About the World Youth Pipe Band Championships

• Since 1946, Scotland has held the World Pipe Band Championships. (A-K-A “The Worlds”)
• The Worlds are hosted by the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (RSPBA).
• The Worlds is held annually and attracts pipe bands from 6 Continents.
• In 2024, the Worlds had 200 pipe bands compete at various levels (or grades).
• Juvenile grade is the beginner grade followed by Grades 4 – 1 (low to high).
• Through 2024, the Juvenile band contest was held on the same day as all the other grade contests.
• For the first time, starting in 2025 the RSPBA will showcase the Juvenile bands on a separate day from the other grades.
• This inaugural event has been named “The World Youth Pipe Band Championships”.

Lander Pipe Band’s Participation at the Worlds 2025

• Lander band members have teamed with youth members of the Upland High School pipe band in southern California.

• The combined band will be called “The Uplanders”.

• Band members qualify for the band via audition.

• Total per person fundraising need is $4,000.

• Donations assist with travel, lodging, pre-Scotland group workshops and band contests.

• Never before in Wyoming’s history has a pipe band competed at the World Championships.

The Lander Pipe Band and the Upland High School Pipe Band competed for the first time as one combined band, “The Uplanders”, on April 12, 2025 at the Las Vegas Celtic Festival.
